I guess one of these days it's time to stop griping about the new format and accept that this just isn't *that* Running Man any more, and enjoy this incarnation of the show for what it is, and for me it looks like this is where I go into that fifth stage of grief.
The opening is hilarious: the gang is dressed up in Hawaiian shirts and shorts for the warm indoor water park, but the opening is done outside--and we're in Pyeongchang, the same town where Episode 23 took place (speaking of which, Gary's awful new haircut is pointed out as looking like Younggu).
Find the Guest: this time the water park is stocked with professional models as decoys (mostly female), which as you might expect is loads of fun not just for Suk Jin but the other guys as well. Like in the last ep the gang takes their time exploring the venue and don't get serious about searching it at first, but this time around it seems to be a lot more fun (it is a water park, after all). Early on there also seems to be little focus on the activities of the guest, Hyun Young, and it's just as surprising to us as it is to the members when the first two are called out. Us Monday Couple fans won't be too happy with a prank Ji Hyo, Joong Ki and Kwang Soo play on Gary. Other highlights include Haha's impromptu flash mob and his run-ins with a particular pretty model; the FD from Episode 28 strikes again; learning from the last episode, decoy cameramen are now part of the mix; questionable footage involving a churro and Kwang Soo's gag reflex; and YJS and KJK distracting themselves with air pumps while thinking they have the guest cornered in one of the female shower rooms--not realizing the shower rooms span multiple stories and have multiple exits.
Karaoke: the usual get-the-lyrics-right stuff. The air mics are now set to dispense water (natch), and as expected, distractions are the key, and of course, here that involves a lot of splashing. Minus points for being uncreative, plus points for using fun songs from Cool, Um Jung Hwa and DJ DOC.
One Chance: Starting with the end of last episode, it looks like they're going to play up the "competition" angle that this event has been sorely lacking by portraying the event as a competition between the cast and the production crew, with the PD's trying to come up with a One Chance challenge that the members will fail. This time around, the members are each assigned a number; they have to get on a rickety rope bridge in a prescribed random order (different from their assigned number), and exit the rope bridge on the other side in the assigned number order (i.e. some of them have to cross over each other). Their trickiest (and most physically demanding) One Chance yet, and for the first time, I wasn't bored watching it. Maybe because I've gotten used to the One Chance event (which I have little love for), but also because there's a level of excitement this time around, with the members using their wits AND physicality under the peril of a spectacular failure (i.e. falling into the water, as opposed to a dropped hat, an unsucked banana or getting caught on a jump rope). Again, I still don't love it, but between me getting used to it and the show getting better at it, we'll hopefully reach a tolerable middle ground.
Hyun Young was...ok. She's not going to go down as one of the more entertaining guests the show has had. I think she could have used more of the spotlight in Find the Guest (the one event that the guest gets the best chance to shine), and she just blends in with the rest of the events--not useless, but definitely upstaged by the cast's antics.
Next week: Paju Book City with the return of Tony Ahn and Kim Kwang Kyu. I see some arguing across a conference table, a weightlifting event using cases of reams of paper, maybe some wastebasket basketball, some actual running (a set of "Office Olympics" events), tie-pulling, arm-biting, and hair yanking. From pictures in another thread, it looks more likely to be Find the Guest rather than the return of Hide and Seek. No Lizzy. No Big Bang.

Looks like Gary's SOL again...grrr...

Hmmm...that looks like a member of the Blue Team on the ground rather than a guest, so...no Find the Guest in this episode? Maybe...something akin to Hide and Seek?
Reportedly the guest is actor Oh Ji Ho.
One thing odd I've noticed from the Episode 32 and 33 pictures...for some reason, the name tags on their backs are now handwritten rather than printed.

the punishments are back , and they seem to be worse this time , dumping them in ridiculous clothes on a bridge , lol , love it.
