#42 (hey, I call it the "Battle Royale" episode, too!) was (and still is) a sort of irregular episode to me. It served as a transitional episode, not just to the post-Joongki era, but also to the current format of "excursion" events and two-event episodes. It's much shorter than the average episode, a large chunk of it had the cast operating separately and alone, and there was that battle royale in what felt like a very confined, lonely space at the Tanhyeon production center. So the "shock" of how different it was compared to everything we'd seen before throws me off, and at times, in a way, I don't even consider it an episode but more like an "intermission" between the two eras of Running Man. It *is* a consistently good, well-paced episode, and would probably be my choice for a "starter" episode for someone new to the series who needs a primer on the characters, but something in my heart regards it as not a representative episode of the series.

I think Kim Byung Man episode is very funny.

It may not be the best episode, but certainly one of the funniest eps.

Seems like a lot of people have forgot this ep though.

And what a legendary episode it was, too--it gave us Maknae FD, and is still one of the highest-rated episodes of the show ever. It and the Hyun Young episode were the best episodes of the "One Chance" era, which admittedly was my least favorite phase of the series because most of the excitement was in the FTG and the endings tended to be anticlimactic.

that's a real tough question.

i do like RM 39 (because of Im Yoona from SNSD) as well as RM 42 (for the battle among the fixed staff members) and most episodes from RM 11 through 17 because of a variety of good things.

i only watched until 54, so here is a list of my favorites:
1 - because it's fun to see hyori :p
6 - yeah shinyoung slept during one of the game, but heck, her gags never fail to make me laugh
13 - great combi of jaesuk and his vj. best hide and seek ever.
25 - boyoung's very likable to the point you don't even care about the boring karaoke game.
26 - karaoke time is usually boring but not with this episode. the last game is less exciting, but the catch the guest is fun! i like maknae FD's "debut" here (correct me if i'm wrong about his "debut" time).
27 - the power of dong bang shin ki of course. kke. well, the other parts are plainly boring but this is the best "catch the guest" imo. maybe it because of the venue or those cooperative people there or this is the first running man episode i'm watching? whatever the reason, i never bored to watch the "catch the guest" over and over again.
38 - jaesuk's awesomeness overload, lol. the pingpong and stress game is less exciting though.
39 - yoona and sunny brighten up the whole show -- while i don't exactly know which part of it is exciting.
42 - yeah for garry's win!
51 - amusing. i never expected jongkook to be the thief. and it's nichkhun as a guest so just put your hands up!
52 - choi min soo!!!!!!!!

as for me, my personal "best" episode is episode 38!

For me it's episode 27
The theater was amazing, the guests were funny and capable and the saerching of the guests was so thrilling! I didn't liked the one chance so much...watching them dance wasn't so exciting, but the drawing in a row was so funny that I cried.

and of course the episode where jaesuks eliminates them with the water gun. Was it 38? It was the best!

I would add SNSD episode 39 as well, but only the first part was interesting. When they started the mission with the food and talking it got kinda boring, even though I like Sunny and Yoona.

There have been a lot of funny and great episodes, but those I really loved.

I think 38 is the best. The guys were saying and doing the most hilarious things cause the girls were there. 13 is really close though because it's so epic. My favorite game is from episode 11 though with the clothespins stuck to their faces. That was the single most hilarious event I have ever seen in my life.

i really, really liked that episode as well. however, with the upcoming SNSD-themed episode i wouldn't be surprised that it'll be high on the list of favourite RM's

haha agree. the snsd dance kinda kill the excitement, i was hoping for a longer search the guess. and actually, the reason why i pick this between my favorite is because i never tired of fangirling them all over again. x)

IMO the best episode is 27th... A great theme (Phantom Opera), great venue (Seoul Arts Center), great games, great guest (DBSK)..
And believe it or not, it was the first RM I watch...
How can I not love RM if the first episode I watch is very hilarous?
