Hello everyone,
As you might know, our servers can't always handle the load (especially when a new episode is released), and our hosting is rather expensive. For those reasons we're going to migrate our website to another server. Advantages are that that server has more "power", and it's a lot cheaper than our current servers.
At this moment we have a server for the website and a separate server for the database, in the new environment we're going to test using only 1 server for both tasks. If it can handle the load we'll leave it like that, otherwise we might go back to two servers. We'll keep you informed about this.
hKyo89 will take care of the migration.
So what's going to happen:
- First our website will migrate to the other server, while the database will still be where it is now. This may cause the website to load significantly slower for as long as we're in this phase.
- When our domain is set to the new website, it might be that the old site is still loading for you. This is one of the reasons why we'll keep the database at the same place, so that everyone has the same content to use. If you get problems I suggest you wait about 48 hours, because that's the time it takes for DNS (the service that translates the domain isubs-squad.com to the IP address and vice versa) to reset. You don't need to do anything as it will happen automatically. If after 48 hours you still have trouble accessing the site, you might want to clean up your temporary internet files/cache.
- After a couple of days we'll move the entire content of the database to the new database, and we'll have to set some things up. There will be some down time at this point, so it'll be announced before it happens.
- After this, it's all finished!
At this moment we are copying the website to the new server and are still running on the old ones.
If you have any questions feel free to ask them, I'll try to answer them all! If you have problems accessing the site, you can reach us at http://www.facebook.com/iSUBS
