Busan finally gets an episode that show's off it's beauty, and we get one of the most beautifully executed elimination games - ever.

Liked the Oh Ji Ho intro, especially the fact that had a bit of humility and joked around about how tiring it was to be a guest on Running Man. I like when the guests, particularly the male guests - come in without being over confident or with a sense of entitlement. I was a little worried that he might have chosen his team with the strongest players (and if he did some how end up with Kim Jong Kook and Song Ji Hyo, that probably would have taken a lot of the wind out of the sails of the episode before it really even started. Thankfully, Ji Ho, being a man of his word [something that kinda bit him on his backside by episode's end] was there for his friend Lee Da Hae, and chose Haha. (Who btw really was a strong pick up on his part.) So we get a nice refreshing mixture of guests being paired up with somebody not named Jae Suk (which I give the show major props for not falling back on.) and the other teams turned out very solid as well, and it ended up working out in a way that was surprisingly balanced in a competitive aspect.

As for the sites as a total, I feel they did a really strong job of displaying some of Busan's locales. Now as a person who watches quite a bit of variety, I've seen every one of the race spots before at some other juncture on some other show - but the way they were shot and done it did a pretty stellar job of making every single venue showcased in it's own special way and really didn't short change the city.

I did really enjoy the aspect of their being a real package, and a bunch of decoys and that each venue gave a strong possibility of you losing it (which turned out to be the case in 2 of the 3 exchanges). As for the games themselves, the fish game was surprisingly balanced, and I can't help but feel that the producers of the show intended for the eel (the easiest of the group to identify by quite a bit) to end up being the choice for the team that ended up with all three males as to add a bit of a competitive balance to having to carry a heavier load. The game itself was alright, nothing too special, but nothing was overly wrong with the game either.

The book game when originally explained sounded like it would have been a terribly difficult undertaking, especially considering that the odds of finding the labeled books were stated as 1 in 100,000. I was a bit glad that the book game wasn't overly long, because as a person who's worked in a library before - I can testify to the fact that trying to find a book is sometimes as difficult as trying to find the proverbial needle in a haystack. So I appreciate the exposure of Busan's unique used bookstores, I am glad that the game didn't drag on like it could have.

The last "pit stop" in the race, offered one of the best background views of the shows history, with the beach, the ocean, and the skyline of Busan in the background. The return of the Running Man balls and the joy that comes with discovering a ball with your name on it made a welcome reprisal. The planning and overall luck factor of trying to get the balls with your team member's name on them was a great equalizer and the cast themselves did a good job of making a monotonous task like digging through 800 ping-pong balls entertaining. The highlight came when Busan's seagulls (being part of the massive Korean demographic themselves) responded to the nation's MC's calling, and even reacted like variety pros - as they flew away from his embarrassing super power inspired battle cry.

As for the exciting climatic elimination game - what can you not say about how it unfolded. Yu Jae Suk is at his absolute best in Running Man when he is taking on his "Yu-ruce Willis" role, and he executed it to it's maximum potential in this episode. Seeing the teamwork of Gary, Ji Hyo, and Jae Suk as they managed to act as a cohesive unit was pretty much the prototypical guidebook to how you should act and work when you are being chased. Despite being outnumbered and easily out-muscled, the purple trio were able to sneak around long enough to buy themselves plenty of time, and when they were finally cornered, they managed to negotiate a truce that bought them extra time and a much needed break. Then thanks to a major assist from Haha (who really came out of nowhere and delivered one of the most shocking eliminations in the history of Running Man) managed to cause the diversion needed to buy even more time. It was after the inevitable elimination of the second member of the Animal Trio, that Jae Suk reacted and set-up a really solid trap for Haha, after realizing that the little aggressive penguin might have been bordering on overconfidence at that point, and ended up getting two for the price of one after eliminating Da Hae as well (another reason I love Jae Suk so much in elimination games - he isn't afraid to mix it up with female guests).

The build-up to the final showdown was about as exciting as could be, with the purple team losing the real package after a timely elimination by Suk Jin, who is finally showing some consistent survivor's edge when it comes to elimination games, and the slippery tussle with Gary that resulted in Suk Jin's unfortunate elimination that could have really gone anyway. As for the final showdown, I am sure there are going to be a few people who are going to state that the purple team cheated by not holding up their end of the bargain when losing in Kai Bai Bo, but I think that they reacted perfectly, and set Oh Ji Ho up for his final downfall as he got outplayed by GaeSuk's timely offensive; and it's not exactly as if Oh Ji Ho played an entirely clean game himself, when he almost eliminated Gwang Soo first and was the first person to plant the seeds of betrayal in their alliance with the blue team. Whatever your stance may be, it was nice to see the team that played the final game with the best sense of teamwork and text book escape tactics pull off the win, considering that they spent 99% of the game being hunted with the odds heavily against their favor.

In closing, it was very nice to see the overdue outdoor Busan episode go above and beyond the standard in delivering a stellar episode. It almost felt like a bit of a foreign feel with the somewhat large crowds and the interactions with the fans that haven't exactly been too common of a occurrence as of late, probably due heavily to all the major leaks in photos that have been abundant on the web lately. I really felt the fans were highly respectful of the games and didn't do anything in the slightest to interfere or come off as a disruptive factor - which was very refreshing to see.

Easily an upper-tier episode that delivered at least a little bit of something for everybody. I could make a case for this being one of the best elimination games ever, and would find it difficult for somebody not to put it in their top 5 list at the very worst. A good episode that built itself up, and then soared like a Busan seagull and didn't once let up until it's epic ending.

P.S. - Just wondering what would have happened if the "I'm Going Crazy/HaChuno" team decided to just go blow off half the day at the beginning of the episode, since they had the real package from the start, and just waited it out until the very end, letting the other teams pick it up all the decoys. Luckily, that type of devilish tactics never came into play, but it would have been interesting to see how the producers and writers would have adjusted if the red team decided to act out that way.

Now wouldn't that be interesting...I reckon the PD's would get angry at them, and they'll miss out on all the fun. If that was the case, the final game wouldn't start (possibly?) until they arrived, and maybe then would they would be disadvantaged, having only one bundle to the whole group, where as the others would have 3.

Love the animal kingdom theme for the blue group, and it seemed great for the audience to see the teams dig it out at the beach. Loved the seagull and YJS scene, was surprised they flew in at that time, was totally expecting the seagulls to ignore YJS. Busan has some wonderful attractions and landmarks, it was a great environment for a RM episode.

To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised to see how well the purple did, being outnumbered with a "lion" and a "tiger" as their enemies. At first I was expecting the blue and red groups to fight it out after eliminating the purple group, so it definitely threw me a jolt to see Haha's betrayal and the final ending for this episode.

Probably the most intense last 10 minutes to a race than we've had in a loooong while. Ji Suk-jin getting the real bundle from Song Ji-hyo and everything from thereon had me on tenterhooks. Just for that, this was worth watching.

The use of Busan locales was perfect! The fish market and Haeundae beach are probably the biggest sights besides the "diamond bridge" which they already visited in the first Busan episode (18?), so to showcase those was good, and I now wish I'd visited that second-hand book store street when I went to Busan!

Very balanced teams and good suspense throughout. This was probably the most suspenseful episode that had no spy plots cluttering it up.

This was a pretty good EP. I like the mystery seafood item game.
Laughed a lot seeing each of the members' reactions, especially Jihyo's. I didn't know that she'd be scared like that.
I like the different mission locations too. Seeing the local markets was very nice. The beach was gorgeous.

I thought Jaesuk's calling the seagulls part was cheesy, but I was shocked that the huge flock of them actually gathered at Jaesuk's spot. Made me laugh out loud in surprise. XD

I rooted for the purple team all the way!! SO HAPPY they won! :DDD
Jaesuk was crazy awesome when he took down Haha and Da Hae by himself.

I really liked this episode so much!! Dae to the bak! ;)
I'm really happy that the Purple team won! My nerves kinda got on Da Hae on the previous episode so I'd be pissed if they did...
Each location was something to look forward to! I usually don't like the market segments of RM but this one... love it! Also, the beach part was genius~! The way it looked ridiculous was so funny~ and the gullllllls! I don't know how many times I've replayed that scene...
The final venue was simply amazing. The suspense could kill you! If I were in Purple team's place, I think I would've wanted to not have the real sack too.. Imo, it's easier to snatch than to protect (especially if there's KJK not to mention Ji Ho).

But anyway, one of my faves definitely!! ;)

The locations were amazing! The book alley was daebak!! :D now i want to go to Korea just to visit that place!!
Jaesuk and the seagulls were great!! hehehe :)

The best part was the final mission. Haha tearing off Sparta Kook's nametag was AWESOME!! hehe :D
Purple team showed a great teamwork on that last part!

Pretty good episode in my opinion, though I'm not rating it too high. Oh Ji Ho is pretty handsome (and this is coming from a guy) but he didn't seem to bring out many funny or memorable moments as you would hope. The final race/hide-n-seek was absolutely intense though, everyone seemed to put in all their effort and gave no mercy to the 2 guests.

I actually didn't enjoy the episode so much. It wasn't exactly boring, but I didn't laugh as much and overall I wouldn't consider it as one of the top episodes so far.

I like Oh Ji Ho and I like Lee Da Hae, but somehow I think they got a little buried in this episode. Overall there was a lot moving and looong games that wouldn't end (I didn't find this searching at the beach at all entertaining. I was nearly as frustrated as the members...) and the games didn't gave a lot opportunities to laugh. A little bit, when they were feeling the fish, because they acted a little bit scared, but nothing much. The books were rapidly done as well...the most entertaining for me was the close up from this music magazine which I took a screenshot from, since I was curious what the cover was about. The ending game was okay, but nothing surprising except for the fast elimination of KJK. That was cool and I give Haha credit for this, but overall...I thought it wasn't so thrilling.

Buut there is always an episode not so nice....since I really liked the episodes before, I cannot complain and I'm looking forward to the next episodes ^^
